The story
How do you feel when you are forced to flee the war as a child and end up having no connection to the land where you were born, for 77 years?
A short introduction
From the premise of finding the place of origin starts the documentary about my grandfather, Victor Stroie, who at the age of 78 travels 800km from Oltenia, Romania, to northern Bessarabia to find his origins and restore the emotional connection with his hometown.
The support from our first backers was necessary to complete the post-production stages (editing, sound and color grading) which reached a standstill for over half a year. With the funding raised we were able to pay the post-production team and we will have access to editing, sound and coloring studios equipped at cinema standards.
Now, additional financial contributions are welcomed, in order for us to submit this documentary to the biggest film festivals in the world.
The impact of the film
I believe that my grandfather's story can bring us closer to who we really are, to discover our values, in an increasingly divided world, in which we rarely return to our elders and our origins to find out their stories and get to know ourselves better through them. The film is about a man who, after a life of procrastination and indecision, finds the strength to fulfill a desire of the soul, which we all actually feel, especially when we are away from home. His story - of a child forced to flee the war - shows that there is hope in the most difficult events.
